Bev Abela’s debut album “Heartfelt” will capture your soul.It is already receiving airplay in Australia as well as international critical acclaim including plays Hillzfm and Abbey Radio in the UK as featured international artist of the week and the USA’s The Women of Substance podcast in their Songs with a Conscience Series. Plus locally featured Artist on The Australian Country Songwriters Show and many other Australian stations.
Originating from the UK, Bev moved to Canada in her youth and now lives in Australia. Her producer and arranger David Hyams has helped to create a fusion of influences from these diverse cultures and blended them into a blues, roots and country feel, to compliment the intriguing, melancholic and sometimes humorous lyrics.Bev met David about 10 years ago when she attended his songwriting workshops. Some 8 years later she contacted him with the body of material she had written, and they worked together for 2 years fine tuning the songs for recording.The result is this collection of songs that are delivered with her honest, soulful vocals and haunting guitar riffs courtesy of Hyams. They depict personal experiences of love, loss and new beginnings that have already resonated with many listeners.
Bev has turned adversity into this poignant and heartfelt album by channeling her grief from the loss of her daughter in tragic circumstances and the recent passing of her husband to a cruel terminal disease, into reflective thought -provoking melodies. This album has been received with a warm welcome and no doubt will continue to be like a comfort blanket that will always be there to wrap around you! Update – 2 songs from the album were voted into the top 30 of the Australian Songwriters Association Awards 2020“How can you say” and “Which Wolf “ The latter also reaching top 10 (8th)
